Our goal is to bring artificial intelligence and cybersecurity together. To do that, we need to explore what’s happening in AI and what’s happening in cybersecurity, and where the two intersect and collide. We’re also working to understand how we solve problems in these areas, what that looks like, and how Canada can and will participate.

🎤 Speaker #3: Sumit Giri

Abstract

As quantum threats become real, migrating to post-quantum cryptography is moving from research to deployment. This talk unpacks the math and structure behind NIST’s selected standards, namely ML-KEM and ML-DSA, and shows how they are being integrated into protocols like OpenSSL 3.5 and TLS 1.3. We’ll also walk through the key migration challenges organizations face: performance overhead, interoperability issues, and practical deployment risks.

About Sumit

Cybersecurity professional with a PhD in Mathematics, specializing in Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC), a cornerstone of modern encryption. Experienced in implementing secure protocols, identifying vulnerabilities, and enhancing system defenses. Passionate about advancing privacy-preserving technologies such as homomorphic encryption and federated learning, which enable secure data sharing and computation without compromising privacy.
